Written by on December 7, 2018

Lady Gaga’s “A Star is Born,” Queen biopic “Bohemian Rhapsody” and “The Assassination of Gianni Versace” got multiple noms

The nominations for the 76th Annual Golden Globe Awards were announced by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association on Thursday (Dec. 6).

Leading all nominees with six nods is the Dick Cheney biopic Vice, in which Christian Bale disappears into the role of the former Republican vice president, followed by The Favourite, Green Book and A Star Is Born, which all have five. The fourth iteration of Star topped a number of categories, landing Best Picture, Best Director and Best Actor (for co-star Bradley Cooper), as well as Best Actress for Lady Gaga and a song nom for “Shallow.”

The nominations were announced by Terry Crews, Danai Gurira, Leslie Mann and Christian Slater. Meher Tatna, HFPA president, also announced that for the first time this year there will be a special achievement award in the television category similar to the honorary Cecil B. DeMille Award for special achievement in film.

The 76th Golden Globe Awards will take place at the Beverly Hilton Hotel and air on NBC, with Andy Samberg and Sandra Oh hosting. The Golden Globe Awards ceremony is produced by Dick Clark Productions, which shares a parent company with Billboard.
