THE SIMPSONS SEQUEL IS “IN THE VERY, VERY EARLY STAGES” SAYS PRODUCER AL JEAN

It’s been 13 years since The Simpsons Movie first landed on the big screen. And producer Al Jean has now offered an update on a long-awaited sequel.
The 2007 feature-length animation welcomed not only a cameo from double Oscar-winner Tom Hanks. It also reeled in over $500 million at the global box office – so why the delay in making another? That’s the question every movie lover mouth.
A sequel has been in official development since August 2018, but in conversation with Slash Film recently. Al admitted that it’s still “in the very, very early stages”. “We would love to do one for Disney but it’s not like it’s happening next week or next year,” he said.
Asked about whether a second bite of the cinematic cherry would possibly prove easier, the producer responded: “It’s never easier, this I’m sure of. We would only do it if it was an idea that we thought deserved being made into another movie. “We certainly don’t need to have more Simpsons out there just for the money or to have additional material. The company would do it if we thought it was a great story and we wanted to tell it.”
We can’t wait for the sequel tho:.
