Missy Elliott has been in the studio working hard on a project slated to hit airwaves in 2019. After months of teasing new music since the year’s start, Missy has returned to the studio with long-time friend/collaborator Timbaland.
In a Twitter post, the 47-year-old rapper showed off a brief studio session with “The Way I Are” producer where the pair were reportedly “cooking” something special. Unfortunately, the video was absent of any music for fans to preview.

Elliott has been mildly quiet on the music scene since 2005’s The Cookbook album but her return has been highly anticipated. This announcement arrives after the MC revealed she was nervous to put out new tunes for fear of creating “time-traveler music.”
“For so long I was hesitant to put out music in fear no one would get it because people said music has changed & my sound been so different but NOW IM LIKE hey, bump it make music that feels good to me, let me get y’all a**es dancing again,” she said.
Recently (Nov. 7), Elliott became the first female rapper to be nominated for the Songwriters Hall of Fame. If she’s inducted, the Virginia native will become one of three hip-hop pioneers (JAY-Z, Jermaine Dupri), to be initiated.
