CHINONYE CHUKWU TO DIRECT AMERICANAH

HBO Max announced that Chinonye Chukwu is going to be directing the upcoming 10-episodes Tv Show based on Chimamanda Adichie’s best selling novel AMERICANAH. The series already has a star studded cast which includes Lupita Nyong’o as Ifemelu , Zachary Momoh as Obinze, Uzo Aduba as aunty Uju and so on.
Chukwu’s recent movie ‘Clemency’ won the Grand Jury prize at Sundance festival for last year, emerging as the first black winner of the price. Clemency was also nominated at the Gotham Awards and the 2019 Film Independent Spirit Awards. Chukwu is also set to direct an adaption of Black Panther leader Elaine Brown’s memoir “A Taste of Power.

Americanah tells the story of a young Nigerian woman IFEMELU (Lupita) who fell in love with her classmate OBINZE (Momoh), Due to the military rule in Nigeria both travelled abroad but to different destinations. IFEMELU ended up in AMERICA where for the first time she was faced with issues of being a black woman.
