AKON CITY – SENEGAL

Popular and legendary singer Akon announced the conclusion of agreement of the plans he has for building a futuristic city in his home country Senegal. Akon made the announcement via his social media, Posing in a picture with other Senegalese officials while holding the projects paperwork on Monday January 13th.

The plans for the new city was initially announced in 2018 and it is going to be built on the 2,000 acres of land that the President of Senegal Macky Sall gifted the singer, it is exclusively going to be trading in his very own crypto currency ‘AKOIN’ which is also one of the big plans Akon has for Africa and Senegal, which includes Akon Lighting Africa. A project that will provide electricity for 600 million Africans through Solar power

According to the City’s website, the city will be built in phases, a span of ten years with the second phase of work commencing in 2025 and it is going to be five minutes away from Senegal’s new International Airport. After conclusion it will be the first ever to run on 100 percent renewable energy Akon said to Nick Cannon on Power 106 last November. “it’s a 10 year building block so we’re doing it in stages. We started construction in March and stage two is going to be 2025.” Akon added
