Five times Ballon D’or winner and Argentina captain, Lionel Messi,
has been banned from playing international football for 3 months following
his comment that the recently concluded Copa America cup was fixed for Brazil.
lionel was also slammed with a $50,000 (£41,121) y Conmebol, the
South American Football Confederation, and given seven days to appeal the judgment.
The talented player made the comment shortly after Argentina won the third-place
2-1 over Chile in a game that saw him sent off following a clash with Gary Medel, who was also dismissed.
His words:
“We don’t have to be part of this corruption.” “They have shown us a lack of respect throughout this tournament.
“Sadly, the corruption, the referees, they don’t allow people to enjoy football, they ruined it a bit.”
