Carabao Cup: Chelsea coach singles out two players for criticism after 3-2 win

Chelsea coach, Gianfranco Zola, has criticised Gary Cahill and Andreas Christensen’s contributions with the ball, during their Carabao Cup victory over Derby County.
The Blues progressed to the quarter-finals of the competition with a hard-fought 3-2 win over the Championship outfit at Stamford Bridge.
Despite the victory, Chelsea looked vulnerable at the back, as Cahill and Christensen struggled to impose themselves.
Christensen was replaced by David Luiz in the second half and Zola admitted both he and Cahill struggled.
Maurizio Sarri’s assistant said: “Gary played for the first time in a while. When we didn’t defend well, it wasn’t just the defenders.
“I thought Gary and Christensen could have done better with the ball in the first half.
“This is probably the complaint, but we will go through this and discuss this [with them].”
On the overall game, Zola added: “It was more than a bit shaky, but that was down to Derby.
“They played with a lot of quality, but our passing wasn’t sharp and in the last 15 minutes we lost a bit of control.
“Some things didn’t work well, some did.”
